    PE - Dance

    This week in our PE session we looked at the style of dance 'Rock and Roll'. We used a well known nursery rhyme 'The Wheels of the Bus' and created actions that fitted with the Rock and Roll style. The children agreed that Rock and Roll style dancing made them feel happy and excited!

    Maths - 2D Shape Dinosaurs

    We have been making 2D shape dinosaur pictures! We cut out different shapes such as rectangles, squares, triangles and circles. We arranged them to create our own dinosaurs!

    DT - Duplo Dinosaurs

    We have been creating dinosaurs in our construction area using Duplo and Lego. We thought about which dinosaur we wanted to make and used the blocks to create different features such as long necks, tails, wings, arms and legs. We used paper to cut out some eyes and stick them onto our models!

    Happy New Year!

    Welcome back! We hope all of our children and their families had a lovely Christmas break and want to wish you all a Happy New Year. This term we will be learning about things in the past including dinosaurs and the first moon landing! We will also find out about the celebration - Lunar New Year.

    PE - Gymnastics

    In our gymnastics lesson today we had a go at demonstrating some of the skills we have been learning this term. We incorporated balancing, jumping and rolling into our movement and demonstrated different shapes with our bodies. The children have been so sensible using the gymnastics equipment and have really enjoyed gymnastics this term!

    EAD/ MATHS - Christmas Trees

    We used different strips of wrapping paper and coloured paper to create Christmas trees. We made each piece of paper shorter to create the tree. We drew a star at the top and a trunk at the bottom. This was a great activity for our mathematical development, focusing on the language of longer and shorter!

    Today we had a go at independently reading a word Mrs Ferris wrote on the board. We then drew a picture of what she had written! The children really impressed us with their independent reading and their drawing skills!

    KUW - Learning about Seals

    We have been learning about seals today. We found out that they can hold their breath for a long time under water and they are good swimmers. We also found out they like to eat fish and have a thick layer of fat called 'blubber' to keep them warm! We found out they are Pinnipeds like walruses and had a go at some walrus crafts!

    KUW - Making Hot Chocolate

    We have been thinking about ways to keep warm in colder weather. We made hot chocolate! We used chocolate powder, milk, cream and marshmallows! The children said it was very yummy! :)

    PE - Balancing Skills

    In PE today we focused on our balancing skills. We talked about how we could help ourselves balance better by putting our arms out at our sides and making sure we were facing forwards and concentrating. We practiced walking along benches and standing on gymnastics tables of varying heights!
