Warburtons visit to Reception, Year 1 & Year 3

Last week we welcomed some visitors from Warburtons into our school. We learnt about the history of Warburtons and a lot about healthy eating before going on to make our own sandwiches. A big thank you to Warburtons for delivering such a fun filled learning experience.

Recption trip to @Bristol 12th June 2015

Our Reception class visited @Bristol taking part in a brains and body workshop, ‘The human body’ show and ‘The human body’ trail which fits perfectly with their current topic of ‘Busy Bodies’. There were lots of hands on, practical activities for the children to explore and it has enhanced the children’s learning massively.

Year 1 & 2 trip the The Black Country Museum 22nd May 2015

What a wonderful day was had at the Black Country Museum. The children  have learnt so much and all agreed how lucky we are to be living now rather than in the Victorian times!!!

Science Evening 20th May 2015

Thank you to everyone who came and took part in our Science Evening. Everyone enthusiastically tried all the human biology experiments , added data to our community investigation into foot-to-height ratios and tested themselves against the Royal Society’s anatomy quiz. It just proved how clever our children are at Berkeley that they could answer all the questions intended for the adults!

Year 5 & 6 Hindu Temple Visit 24th February 2015

Year 5 and 6 went to the Hindu temple in Cheltenham this morning and were warmly welcomed into the temple to watch a service. We were all fascinated by the amazing colours, sights and sounds.

When we got back to school, the Year 5 class wrote thank you letters to Mr Patel, who showed us around the temple.

Curriculum Evening 11th February 2015

WOW! The staff are still buzzing after the success of last night’s family curriculum event! For the first time ever, everyone got involved in planning creative ideas for learning for the summer term! We launched our ‘100 Memories’ book too, with a CHOPSTICK challenge! Loads of fun, very productive and highly enjoyable! We had a packed hall and want to thank everyone who came and made the event so brilliant! Go Berkeley! :)

The Willow Plate Puppet Show 6th February 2015

On Friday, we were visited by Stephen Sharples from the Treasure Trove Puppet Company. He brought with him an amazing array of puppets and props to perform The Willow Plate, a tale from Ancient China. At the end of the performance, he brought some of his puppets out from behind the playboard for the children to see how everything worked. It was a spell-binding performance that completely captured the children’s imagination.

Literacy Information Evening 21st January 2015

Sending out a huge THANK YOU to all the parents who attended our event last Wednesday. Was great to speak with you all and share your children’s writing progress with you. So many of you were amazed when you saw just how far they had come in their work since Reception class! The BIG write books were hugely popular for taking a trip down memory lane and seeing just how much progress is made year on year. A special thank you to Mrs Day (who really didn’t want me to take her photo) but who attends everything we provide at BPS. It is much appreciated and valued! It was great to see some of our Parent Governors there too!

Thank you to all the staff who pulled out all the stops to provide parents with lots of information and writing examples. Also, HUGE thanks to our brilliant prefects who helped us throughout the event! What stars you all are! :)
