Walk Like An Egyptian!

Welcome back to a brand new term, in a brand new year!

We have had 2 weeks of arty fun with the ‘Take One Picture’ project in connection with the National Gallery in London.  It’s been a great way to start the new school year, giving the children time to catch up with each other and settle into life in our new class!  Now it’s time to explore Ancient Egypt!!!

Some General House Keeping for you, now they’ve moved into Year 4:

Monday:  Miss Robbins  PE day

Tuesday: Miss Robbins

Wednesday: Mrs Baker and also Miss Sprosen in the afternoon for French.(Miss Robbins fulfils Deputy duties on this day)

Thursday: Miss Robbins

Friday: Miss Robbins  PE day

As always, please provide water bottles and mid morning snacks if required please. No chocolate or crisps are permitted as morning healthy snacks.

Reading: Children can and are encouraged to bring books of interest into school but can also choose from a range we offer in our classroom library. They read daily in class and I monitor their reading and frequency in class.  Reading for pleasure is big on the agenda and I’d also encourage children to be read to at home, before they get too old to want us to do it!

Spelling:  These will be sent home weekly (Tuesdays) and will be in their Literacy groups.  They will have a spelling book which MUST come back to school by the following Monday for marking and new homework to be set by their teacher.

Maths: Children have the opportunity to extend classroom learning on our online network.  Again, more on this later as we are establishing new passwords for all the children. All homework will be set on a Tuesday.

Home Learning:  The children have come up with some of their own ideas for this and can choose home learning that inspires them within our topic.  I will be awarding certificates this year for children who have embraced this fully. I have also sent home hard copies with resources to all children in Yellow folders. We will be sharing their home learning during our WOW day too!
