A few notes about the last week of term…

Monday 17th July is Transition Day. The children come into Reception as normal through the red doors. I will register them and then take them and all their belongings to Year One and their new teacher Mrs Trotman. She will spend the day with them and dismiss them from the Year One door at the top of the playground near the hall.

Tuesday 18th July is Sport Day. Reception and KS1 – 9.15 – 11.45 KS2- 1.30 – 3.15 . Reception and KS1 will be doing carousel style events where you can go around with your child and watch them perform. You are invited to bring a picnic blanket, snacks and drinks to have with your child at the end of their events for a short period of time. LUNCHTIME KS2 Sports Day will take place in the afternoon which will include a mixture of activities. We look forward to seeing lots of you there. PE kits need to come home at the end of the day.

Wednesday 19th July is a normal day although I will be out for more home visits. The children will be watching Little Jesters compete in their sports morning which is 9.30-10.30. Some will have their vision and hearing retests in the morning too. The children will be swimming in the afternoon as usual and then swimming kits need to come home.

Thursday 20th July is again a normal day when I will be back in class. The new intake have their last transition session in the afternoon where parents can attend. The reception children will go to Little Jesters and some to forest school as usual. All wellington books and waterproofs need to come home at the end of the day.

Friday 21st July- Last day of school for the children!

Please can children send word tubs and lists back into school. They are welcome to keep their blue phonics books and any word mats. Reading records will be collected in and kept ready for Year One. We will be rewarding the last reading rockets on Thursday (children may get 2 as Mrs Docherty didn’t do this last week.)

May I take this opportunity to thank all those who have attended any events reception have held, who have helped on any trips, helped in the classroom, helped with swimming, provided resources and have supported us in a any other way this year. We really appreciate it.

The children made smoothies this week. We then signed the way we made them and learnt all about time conjunctions. Then we had a go recounting how we made them by writing the method down independently.

Community Spirit

July 8th, 2017

BERKELEY PRIMARY loved waving off the amazing cyclists last week for #BSQ2BSQ!  It made it all so real for them after their week of sponsored cycling, where they collectively cycled 340 miles to help raise money and awareness for 3 charities close to the hearts of many in our community, Meningitis Now, CJD and Sue Ryder.

Many of the cyclists and the organisers of #BSQ2BSQ  are coming to school this Monday for a special assembly to share their success story and help our children to further understand the impact they have had on this phenomenal community event.

Thank you all for your support and participation in our part towards this event with Nightrider and On ‘ya Bike week. You have all helped to raise a huge amount for these charities and the children have loved being a part of this incredible community venture! What a wonderful town Berkeley is! These children are the future of Berkeley and they will never forget how much they’ve achieved over the last few weeks!

Well done to everyone involved! 😀
