Community Spirit

BERKELEY PRIMARY loved waving off the amazing cyclists last week for #BSQ2BSQ!  It made it all so real for them after their week of sponsored cycling, where they collectively cycled 340 miles to help raise money and awareness for 3 charities close to the hearts of many in our community, Meningitis Now, CJD and Sue Ryder.

Many of the cyclists and the organisers of #BSQ2BSQ  are coming to school this Monday for a special assembly to share their success story and help our children to further understand the impact they have had on this phenomenal community event.

Thank you all for your support and participation in our part towards this event with Nightrider and On ‘ya Bike week. You have all helped to raise a huge amount for these charities and the children have loved being a part of this incredible community venture! What a wonderful town Berkeley is! These children are the future of Berkeley and they will never forget how much they’ve achieved over the last few weeks!

Well done to everyone involved! 😀

Totally Tropical

We shared lots of totally tropical experiences in Little Jesters this week.

Alfie brought in his amazing shell collection to share with us at Circle Time!

We had a Hawaiian Dressing Up day with our friends in Reception. The children looked brilliant – thank you for helping them with their outfits!

In our music session, we listened to a song called Pearly Shells and watched a clip of some Polynesian children performing a traditional dance on a beach to it. Nicola taught us the dance and we used our upper bodies and arms to make the movements of rolling waves on the sea shore and our hands to demonstrate how clam shells open and close. Some of our friends in Reception joined us and returned to teach the dance to the other children in their class.

We made the most of the hot tropical sunshine and took a quick dip in the pool to cool off!

Our taste buds were tantalised with a variety of tropical fruits and we used a blender to turn them into delicious smoothies! Mango was a clear winner with our Little Jesters!

Transition Letter

Dear Parent/Carers,

Thank you to all those who attended the new intake meeting. As mentioned to ease the transition, we have organised regular transition afternoons and some other events detailed in the attached letter. Thank you.

The Tooth Fairy

Little Jesters, Reception and Year 1 were very lucky today as they had a special visit  from the Tooth Fairy. The Tooth Fairy discussed with the children different ways to keep their teeth healthy and clean.

Totally Tropical!

Our topic this term, is Totally Tropical and, on Thursday 22nd June, Little Jesters and Reception will be having a Hawaiian Dressing Up Day! Children are invited to wear their ‘summer’ or ‘holiday’ clothes, even if we have a tropical rain storm! We’d love to see some souvenir holiday t-shirts, colourful Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and flower garlands!

Diary Dates & Swimming Info

Here are a few more dates to add to your diaries:

June 5th & 6th – INSET DAYS

June 9th – Class photos

July 19th – Little Jesters Sports Day 9:30-10:30 (weather permitting)

July 21st – Children finish for the Summer

Also, Little Jesters plan to use the swimming pool after the half term holiday – warm weather (and parent helpers) permitting. Little Jesters do not have a set day to use the pool but our sessions will be held during an afternoon session. We will inform you the day before a swim session so you will know when to send in your child’s swimming kit. There will be no charge for Little Jesters swim sessions, however, we do need lots of ‘extra eyes and ears’ at the poolside – thank you to those of you who have already volunteered. If you are available between 1:00pm and 1:30pm and can spare some time to help us,  please let us know.  The safety of our children is of paramount importance – if we do not have enough ‘extra eyes and ears’ at the poolside, we will be unable to swim.

The children will need suitable swimwear:

Swimming trunks/shorts – Swimming Costume (not bikinis)

Swimming towel, goggles (if preferred)

Flip flops/slip on summer shoes (essential as the children will be walking back to Little Jesters to get changed)

Swim Nappies (if your child is not yet toilet trained)

Please ensure that the entire contents of your child’s swimming bag are clearly named.

If children bring armbands or swim rings to wear in the pool, please inflate these at home before bringing them in to us (for hygiene reasons) – thank you!

If you have any questions or would like further information, please see one of the Little Jesters team.

Little Jesters Wow Afternoon

A huge thank you to everyone who came along this afternoon  – it was lovely to see you all and the children really enjoyed showing you around!

The children had lots of sticky fun icing and decorating their cakes and it was lovely to see them sharing their online Learning Journals with you!

Here are  a few pictures from this afternoon:
