The Gruffalo

The last couple of weeks we have been focusing on the story ‘The Gruffalo’! The children have loved all the activities we have been doing linked to the story and have been fantastic at acting out the story in groups! We have made mini movies of these which we look forward to sharing with you during our next WOW assembly! We have also made our own Gruffalo writing cave where the children have written some brilliant letters to the Gruffalo! Some super learning!

The very hungry caterpillar

As of tomorrow, we will be focusing on the story ‘The very hungry caterpillar’. We will keep you updated on our learning from this.

Missing clothes!

We have a selection of white t-shirts, vests and leggings. Please feel free to come to the Reception classroom tomorrow after school if you think they may be your child’s.

WOW Assembly

Just a little reminder that Receptions WOW assembly is next Monday 18th March at 9.15am to 10.15am. We are looking forward to seeing you and sharing our learning!

Easter Bonnets!

Next Monday, Reception and Little Jesters are making their Easter bonnets together! It would be brilliant if each child could bring in a few bits and pieces to help create their Easter hat! Pop them in a small bag with the child’s name clearly labelled and bring into school by Monday 18th March.

Thank you for all your support :)

Red Nose Day!

As I’m sure you are aware, Friday is Red Nose Day! This week, Reception have been getting their bake on and have been making some Red Nose Day themed cupcakes. We though it would be a lovely ideas to sell our cakes after school in the playground on Friday to raise some money!

Bring along some spare change if you would like to buy some of Receptions yummy cupcakes to help raise money for Comic Relief!

Summer 2013

We have managed to find a spot in the diary to invite you all to a fabulous WOW event we have planned. All family members and little ones are welcome to come and share the children’s learning.

Date: Thursday 18th July

Time: 9:15am

Please wear suitable walking shoes! All shall be revealed very soon…the children don’t even know yet, it’s a surprise!!! :)

Hello and welcome back to the summer term! I Hope you have all had a lovely Easter holiday and it certainly sounds like it from what the children have been telling me! They seem to look a little more grown up this term and it’s definitely showing in the classroom! They have been doing some super learning these first couple of days; myself and Mrs Dessi have been feeling very proud and super impressed! We’re looking forward to a fun filled term of learning!

If there are any photos or home learning that the children would like in their Learning Journals, please pop them in your child’s book bag and we will make sure they get stuck into their journals.

This term our topic is ‘Under the Sea!’. Before the end of term, the children gave me all their ideas of what they would like to learn about in this topic and ‘Pirates’ cropped up quite a lot. Therefore, we are going to have a Pirate themed day on Wednesday 24th April which Little Jesters will be joining us for too! It would be fantastic if the children could all dress up as pirates for this day so we can really step into a pirates shoes! We look forward to seeing Berkeley’s little pirates! :)

Below is the link for this terms Curriculum map! It tells you all about what we will be covering in each area of the curriculum in the summer term.
