Autumn 2012

Reading Eggs/ Reading Eggspress

Children in year 3 have been given Reading Eggs/ Reading Eggspress logins and passwords to take home as part of a free trial we have with the company until the end of February next year. The children have been very excited to practise their reading online. As a parent, you can use the login to see how your child is progressing in their reading and help them with online lessons, activities and games. If you need another copy of the login and password, please pop in to see me.

Exciting news!

We have planned an Ancient Egyptian Theme Day on Tuesday 16th October, as part of our Life on the Nile topic. You can download the letter for parents and carers here – Y3 Egyptian Theme Day

WOW Event!

Due to a very busy end of term with many exciting school events happening this week, we have decided to hold our WOW event on the afternoon of Friday 12th April (the Friday of the first week of the summer term). This will give us the time we need to polish our performances and really show you the best of our learning for our Endangered Species topic. We will let you know the exact time of our WOW event ASAP.

A text message has also been sent to you with this information.

In Year 3 we LOVE mathletics! It’s a great way to practise and apply the maths skills we learn at school online in a fun and motivational way. All children have their own login cards. If you need another copy of your login details, please let me know.

DIG FOR VICTORY!

Here is our topic grid for the new term.

Our class planning notes can be seen here.

*UPDATE* I have planned a very exciting trip to Winchcombe on Wednesday 3rd July! We will be boarding a steam train and acting as WW2 evacuees for the day as part of an evacuee experience planned by Cheltenham Museum and the GWR! The estimated cost of the trip will be £14. Permission letters will be sent out in due course. The children may dress up in costume if they wish (smart school uniform with a gas mask box and a name tag would be perfect!)

Click here for year 3’s summer term home learning grid – full of exciting learning activities to enjoy at home! We will continue to celebrate home learning on Fridays – it’s a lovely chance to see everyone in the class show off their knowledge and talents and we all look forward to Friday afternoons! I will also be awarding certificates at the end of term for outstanding effort and achievement in home learning activities.

If you have anything you’d like to lend, share or donate to us to help us understand what life was like for children during World War Two, please let me know!
